A dental crown covers a tooth and restores it to its normal shape and size.  In fact, CEREC crowns are done in the office on the same day that your tooth is prepared to receive the crown. We provide this service in our Tempe, AZ location.

Dental crowns may be needed in the following situations:

  • To make your tooth stronger and improve its appearance
  • They can be used to attach a dental bridge
  • To protect a weak tooth from breaking or restore an already broken tooth
  • To cover teeth that are discolored or badly shaped
  • Used to cover a dental implant

And for children, dental crowns may be used on primary teeth to save teeth that are badly damaged by decay and cannot support fillings.

A child's primary teeth, sometimes called "baby teeth," are as important as the permanent adult teeth.

Primary teeth, which often begin to appear when children are about 6 months old, help them chew and speak. They also hold space in the jaws for permanent teeth that are developing under the gums.

The front four teeth usually erupt first, beginning as early as 6 months after birth. Most children have a full set of 20 primary teeth by the age of 3 years. The primary teeth generally begin to shed, or fall out, at about 6 years of age.

The first of the 32 permanent teeth begin to appear about the same time. Most of the permanent teeth will erupt by age 21.

We recommend that most children visit their family dentistry clinic for dental care for the first time at about 2 to 3 years of age.  Call Hall Family Dentistry in Tempe, AZ for complete dental care for every member of your family, call us at (480) 345-0991.
